Julie Sheil: Art as Therapy The Scribe - Page 9 About Julie Julie Sheil is a self-taught artist who lives in Cleveland, Ohio. She started making art in 2021 as a way to help herself heal after a serious car accident that caused a brain injury and balance problems. Julie creates abstract paintings without planning them ahead of time. Instead, she explores her inner thoughts and feelings, connecting with the changing world around her. She builds each artwork in layers, mixing playful creativity with careful choices about what works best. Art and Inspiration Julie’s main inspiration comes from her love of nature and her personal journey of becoming disabled and working to get better. While she’s mainly a painter, Julie creates many different types of art. Her work includes abstract collage pieces, mixed media art, eco prints (art made using natural materials), functional art that people can use in their daily lives, and custom pet portraits for clients. This variety shows how she embraces being an artist in many different ways.
